• What is the estimate process?

  After requesting a quote from Foothills Painting, our Office Manager schedules an in-home estimate around your schedule. First, we sit down and cover any and all questions you have. Then we’ll cover all necessary topics like scope of work, colors, paint quality, warranty, and timeframe. After that we do a thorough walkaround to make sure your home receives the specific, necessary care to make sure your painting job is pristine and lasts as long as possible. Precise measurements are taken, and our estimating software accurately calculates the cost of labor and materials on-site, meaning you’ll receive your estimate the same day.

• Do you provide a free estimate? What is included?

  Yes. All above plus thorough color selection support if desired. Expert, free advice for your home’s particular needs.

• What are your credentials?

  We’ve been in business 12 years and have painted over 3,000 homes. There are no licensing requirements in Colorado.

• Who will be my crew?

  It depends on what your paint project is. We have crews who specialize in interior, exterior, or stain, as well as different technicalities like the height of your home or the amount of preparation work that is needed. We promise your crew will be the right crew for your specific needs. There is a Foreman on site at all times you can speak to with any questions or concerns.

• What materials do you use?

  High quality primer and caulking from Sherwin Williams.
  If you have a request for a certain brand of paint, we can almost always accommodate. If you don’t, we recommend Sherwin Williams. They are arguably the highest quality paint brand and their paint formulas have been tried and tested for decades in our harsh Colorado climate.

• How do I know it’s time to repaint my home?

  It’s always time to paint your home, that’s our completely unbiased opinion!
  In Colorado it’s best to paint every 7-10 years.
  Look on your horizontal surfaces like window trim for cracking or peeling paint. If the wood is exposed it can rot very quickly and needs to be taken care of.
  Look at joints between siding and trim, or window casing and window trim, for cracks/gaps. If you can fit the tip of a pen in the gap, then water is getting in as well. This will rot siding and trim from the inside out, costing you more $ for repairs than necessary as opposed to sealing and painting before it gets worse.

• Are you environmentally friendly?

  We currently offset a portion of our carbon footprint for each home we paint. We do this by planting 5 or more trees for each home painted with a reforestation company we are proud to partner with called One Tree Planted (onetreeplanted.org)

• What do I do with left over paint?

  We recommend keeping a little bit of leftover paint of each color used. But whatever you don’t want, we can recycle it properly for you.

• Do you use oil or latex paint?

  We use latex paint only. Oil paint is harmful to our painter’s health as well as to the environment.

• What brand of paint do you use?

  If you have a request for a certain brand of paint, we can almost always accommodate. If you don’t, we recommend Sherwin Williams. They are arguably the highest quality paint brand and their paint formulas have been tried and tested for decades in our harsh Colorado climate.

• Are you licensed and insured?

  No licensing requirements in Colorado. Unfortunately, anyone with a brush and a ladder can call themselves a painter. We have the best insurance coverage you can have in Colorado: Full general liability insurance, vehicle insurance, Errors and Ommissions, Umbrella coverage, and Workers Compensation.

• How do I select colors?

  We can support you in this decision at the time of your estimator. We also have on-staff professional design consultants that you may meet with should you choose to become a client of ours

• Can I leave my home while your crew works?

  Yes, we actually recommend this if possible. We just want to make sure to do a final walk around with you at the end to show you your new home!

• We have damage to the home, so do we need to repair that first?

  It depends on how extensive the damage is. Sometimes it can be salvaged with quality preparation work. But if it has gone on too long and is exposed to the elements for a long period of time, then yes you will want to repair those things first.

• How long will it take to paint my house?

  Depends on size of job scope and painters. Anywhere from 1-7 days typically

• How long does it take to dry?

  Usually 45 minutes to 2 hrs. Factors such as paint quality, air temperature, and surface temperature can effect this.

• How long will the paint last?

  8-12 years depending on current condition of home and paint quality level you choose.

• Do you provide touch up paint after you are finished?

  Yes. We recommend keeping a little bit of leftover paint of each color used. But whatever you don’t want, we can recycle it properly for you.

• Can you match a color of something I like?

  We have Color Consultants on staff that can support you in matching a color you like.

• How long do I wait until I wash the walls after they have been painted?

  2-3 weeks to allow the paint to cure properly. And while washing do not aggressively scrub in one area for a long period of time.

• What can I do to make the paint last longer?

  Clean your walls to prevent your paint from being broken down due to debris and dust.

• Do you remove mildew?

  No paint inhibitors can prevent mildew in the future.
  We also can use a stain blocker like kilz to help prevent future mildew.

• Do you remove popcorn ceilings?

  Not currently

• As the estimator, are you going to be involved on this job? If not, how will it be managed?

  We go above and beyond with our job management. We’ve found this is lacking hugely in the painting industry. Our Estimator writes up a detailed work order and discusses your project with one of our awesome Project Managers. Depending on your painting project specifications, you are assigned your own dedicated Project Manager who is in communication with you every step of the way. Additionally, you have a Foreman on site you can speak with should you have any questions or concerns during your painting project.
